Nake
Nula Waun, Suzi
Quatro, The One Through Tens and Derek Miller Dominate The
Nominations For This Years Rockwired Radio Music Awards.
Some of the top nominees this year include the hard rock band Light the Black Skye (Best Band, Best Recording (LP) – Looking Out/Looking In), Janet Labelle (Best Female Artist, Best Recording (EP) – Blossom and Blue), The One Through Tens ( Best Band, Best Song – Fighting For a Golden Age and Best Recording (EP) – Fighting For A Golden Age), Brian Buckley Band (Best Band, Best Song – As If and Best Recording (LP) – Hysterical Blindness)and rock legend Suzi Quatro (Best Female Artist, Best Song - Breaking Dishes and Best Recording (LP) In The Spotlight). The band with the most nominations this year is the American Indian hip hop band Nake Nula Waun with four nominations including Best Band, Best Recording (LP) for The Definition, Best Song for Doubt and Best Recording By An American Indian Artist/Band. With the addition of the weekly shows Jazzed and Blue and Aboriginal Sounds to Rockwired's programming in 2011, this years proceedings include two new categories – Best Jazz Recording and Best Recording By An American Indian Artist/Band. “We are happy and proud to introduce these two new categories Jazzed and Blue has been quite a coup for the website. The same can be said for Aboriginal Sounds. Both shows have broadened the palette of sound that one can hear at Rockwired. Lush also admits that the Grammy®'s recent decision to do away with its Native American Music category was a factor in instituting the category for Rockwired. “It's a slap in the face to ignore the musical achievements of Indian people. There are a lot of great Native artists out there and they deserve recognition.” The polls for the Rockwired Radio Music Awards are now open. Listeners can cast their vote at http://www.rockwired.com/2012ballot.html. The polling is provided by Micropoll and will be available until March 8. Voters can only vote once per IP address. The winners will be announced in a special 90 minute podcast on Rockwired.com on March 12. NOMiNEES
