MARCH 22, 2012 - The latest edition of  ABORIGNAL SOUNDS – A CELEBRATION OF CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN INDIAN MUSIC features brand new music and exclusive interviews with such American Indian recording artists and hip hop artist TA$K 1 (Jicarilla Apache/Taos Pueblo) as well as news of the Seventh Annual All That Culture - Music of the Americas' Fundraiser on April 27-28 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

SHAWN MICHAEL PERRY (Salish)has taken the multi-hyphenate to new heights. This singer, songwriter, actor, educator / motivational speaker and activist was born in Southern California into indigenous heritage, Shawn has embraced his culture, past and present with an eye to the future. SHAWN first came to the public's attention through his acting skills. He has appeared in films as diverse as LAST OF THE MOHICANS and HIDALGO and television productions such as MY INDIAN SUMMER. His stage credits include the highly-acclaimed production of GHOST DANCE at Los Angeles's ACTOR'S GANG STUDIO. SHAWN has been a member of SAG and AFTRA for over ten years. SHAWN's musical ambitions led him to the studio with a collection of songs highlighting the human experience as seen through indigenous eyes. The strength of his music and beauty of his words was enhanced by producer JOHN AVILA, the talented bassist/producer of OINGO BOINGO. Final polishing was added by the skillful mastering techniques of RON MCMASTER (CAPITOL RECORDS). The results were marketed as the limited edition "RUN2U". Tracks "FREED" and FOREVER received terrific response and airplay. Due to their popularity, these songs are featured on the new full-length CD, SHAWN MICHAEL PERRY & ONLY THE BRAVE. BRIAN LUSH of ROCKWIRED.COM will be hosting - ALL THAT CULTURE – MUSIC OF THE AMERICAS - a concert and fund raiser during Gathering of Nations weekend in Albuquerque New Mexco.  The concert will feature indigenous artists including SHAWN MICHAEL PERRY and ONLY THE BRAVE, SUMMIT DUB SQUAD, CODY BLACKBIRD, PLATEROS, TA$K 1, and CHUCKI BEGAY AND THE MOTHER EARTH BLUES BAND for a full evening of great entertainment with musical styles ranging from Native American flute to rock to blues, hiphop and reggae.  

ALL THAT CULTURE has been producing events for 7 years and this will prove to be one of the finest yet.  The mission of ATC is to bring the gift of music to rural and reservation communities through application and education.  There will be multiple raffles each night for fine instruments from LATIN PERCUSSION, OVATION GUITARS, DEAN MARKLEY STRINGS, and REMO to help raise funds for such endeavors.  Please visit the website for more information on getting music and instruments back into schools and Native communities.
