ROCKWiRED RADiO PROFiLES
PRESENTS:
THE ENGAGiNG SOUND OF TONY DESiMONE AND HiS LATEST RELEASE THE SECOND TiME AROUND
NOVEMBER 22, 2011 - When
musically inclined folks start discussing the craft of songwriting, an
inevitable cliché pops up that reminds us “It’s not rocket science.”
But Princeton based singer/songwriter TONY DeSIMONE might disagree –
because when he’s not hard at work writing, recording or performing his
coolly infectious contemporary Americana songs, he’s a research
scientist (with a PhD in physics) for LOCKHEED MARTIN. The
multi-talented performer, who plays drums, piano, guitar and even
ukulele, set his musical dreams aside for years to establish himself in
this field, but has also been building momentum (and an ever growing
fan base) as an independent artist since the 2009 release of his
self-titled debut EP, which received air play on numerous college
stations. GOING TO CALIFORNIA, DeSIMONE’s follow-up EP, won awards in
MIKE PINDER’s song wars competition. His full length debut THE SECOND
TIME AROUND—his first project with Grammy winning producer/engineer
ANTHONY NEWETT--has already received accolades for its title track
(selected to appear on the ALTERNATE ROOT’s Valentine’s Day Sampler CD)
and the opening track “A PERFECT DAY,” Grand Prize winner in the
AIROMEE WIND/SKOPE MAGAZINE feature artist competition. Key tracks
on THE SECOND TIME AROUND include the lighthearted, easygoing
blues-tinged rocker “A PERFECT DAY,” inspired by day in an outdoor pub
near NYC with his girlfriend, listening to great music; the edgy alt
rocker “BLUE,” inspired by a frustrating moment in a bar when a girl
didn’t actually believe DeSIMONE when he told her he was a rocket
scientist; and the infectious, groove filled driving tune “GOING TO
CALIFORNIA,” a dreamy portrait inspired by a dreary East Coast day.
