ROCKWiRED RADiO PROFiLES PRESENTS:
THE ETHEREAL SOUND OF DONNA DESTRi
AND HER FORTHCOMiNG CD ELEMENT OF FiRE
http://www.rockwired.com/donnadestri.JPG JANUARY 9, 2012 - A new year. New music. ETRANGERS MUSIQUE wants to move you, literally, to three new, seductive dance tracks featuring New York City music legend DONNA DESTRI and STEVEN JONES of UK-based ETRANGERS MUSiQUE. The compelling and sensual SOME OF YOUR TIME is the first single release, and will soon be followed by the equally sexy and addictive grooves FIRE and DILATED EYES – all written and produced by STEVEN JONES, and given expression by way of DONNA DESTRI’s distinct, pitch-perfect vocals. An electrifying collaboration, the pairing of Ms. DESTRI and Mr. JONES should come as no surprise to progressive music enthusiasts considering the cultural cross-pollination that has occurred between New York and the UK for decades. And perhaps no other era is so strongly associated with the two music-meccas than that of the budding punk scene of the mid- to late ‘70s. Enter DONNA DESTRI, a starry-eyed Brooklyn gal who, along with brother and BLONDIE keyboardist JIMMY DESTRI, hit the edgy downtown scene with the simple dream to perform. That ambition, along with stunning good looks and innate talent, soon landed her on the now legendary stages of CBGB and MAX'S KANSAS CITY. Of course, DESTRI is no stranger to the recording studio, releasing not only her own dance-chart hit and BOWIE cover REBEL REBEL on MAINMAN RECORDS (along with an award-winning video) in ’82, but also contributing backing vocals to BLONDIE’s benchmark LP EAT TO THE BEAT. But it is for her exceptional vocal contributions to Blondie’s phenomenally successful comeback album of ’99, NO EXIT, that DONNA is most proud – and rightly so. Choir-like, her astounding voice rises and soars throughout the smash single MARIA, and her classic, girl-group harmonizing with DEBORAH HARRY on the inspired cover OUT IN THE STREETS is a standout. Says DESTRI: “As essential as all art forms are to the human experience, nothing inspires us to move and celebrate ourselves like music. Considering the turmoil and confusion we now see around the world on a daily basis, I think the opportunity of escape dance music has always offered is more vital than ever. And of course, everyone feels sexier on the dance floor! STEVEN JONES and ETRANGERS MUSIQUE understand that. The feeling of desire and the sense of longing-to-belong inherent in their music are totally in sync with the collective unconscious of today. We’re kindred souls.”

   ABOUT THE HOST:
http://www.rockwired.com/brian.JPGBRIAN LUSH holds a BA in Creative Writing from the UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO. He established ROCKWIRED on New Years of 2004 and hasn't looked back since. He is currently the host of all of ROCKWIRED.COM's programming which includes such shows as ROCKWIRED RADIO PROFILES and ROCKWIRED FREE FORM RADIO. As program producer for ROCKWiRED.COM, LUSH is hands-on when it comes to interviewing and building a lasting rapport with the artists that come ROCKWiRED's way. As a youngster, BRIAN LUSH had no idea what kind of seed was being planted by reading magazines such as HIT PARADE, HIGH TIMES, SPIN, REQUEST (remember that one?) and even ROLLING STONE. "Those were the days before the internet and being a rock journalist looked like the coolest job imaginable." says LUSH "But reading these magazines had me imagining that one day I'd be the artist giving all of the clever answers to some poor guy with a tape recorder. Well, life has a way of surprising you. Now, I'm the poor guy with the tape recorder and asking all of the questions."
