PRESENTS:
THE MESMERiZiNG SOUND OF TROUBLE iN THE WiND AND THEiR DEBUT CD NO WORK DANCiNG A
lot of indie rock bands claim they’re doing home studio
recordings—but TROUBLE IN THE WIND takes the concept literally. The
group—which includes chief songwriter ROBBY GIRA (vocals, guitar),
TREVOR MULVEY (bass) multi-instrumentalist KYLE MERRIT and new
drummer LARRY DORAN—began the project in a conventional studio
setting in 2010. Unhappy with the outcome of the recordings, the
eclectic four piece used the unique acoustics of different rooms (and
even the attic!) to better capture the raw, organic energy of the
live shows throughout their home turf of San Diego County. The result
of these unique sessions recorded with very basic microphones and
recording equipment (and all while playing in the same room together)
is their infectious, self produced full length debut album NO WORK DANCING. When KYLE
joined GIRA, MULVEY and TROUBLE IN THE WIND’s founding
drummer, the band had recently evolved out of another popular local
group called CACTUS BOB, whose vibe was country/rock with Americana
influences. Although the guys still carry the original band’s
Americana/country influences, their sound has expanded across a wide
range of genres, including folk, classic rock and serenades. While
playing in their hometown of Carlsbad at places like the Boar Cross’n
and Henley’s Bar, the Tin Can Alehouse and Soda Bar in North Park,
clubs in Downtown San Diego and events like the Del Mar Fair, they’ve
blossomed into a multi-instrumental collective able to spin larger
than life, rich cinematic tales.
