ROCKWiRED RADiO PROFiLES
PRESENTS:
THE ECLECTiC SOUND OF DASHBOARD MADONNA AND THEiR NEW E.P. NEON LiFE MAY 9, 2012
- When
famed lyricist BERNIE TAUPIN wrote the line “And the repo was
hauling the wreck we’d been driving/As the dashboard Madonna/Smiled
back at us kindly” for ELTON JOHN’s album cut “THE EMPEROR'S NEW
CLOTHES” in 2001, he could scarcely imagine that the imagery
would inspire the kind of funk, groove, melodic songwriting and indie
artist ambition that British born guitarist/producer SASCHA CARL and
Hungarian vocalist HONEY RHYDER—collectively known as DASHBOARD
MADONNA--bring to their multi-faceted new collection NEON
LIFE.
In
an age where an artist’s work is generally consumed one track at a
time, the Hamburg, Germany based duo takes the extraordinary (and
artistically necessary) step of releasing NEON
LIFE
as an 18 track double CD for physical distribution and a 12-track set
for digital. DASHBOARD MADONNA has also compiled six of their
favorite tunes for an advance promotional CD. In addition to 16
infectious original tunes driven by strong drum tracks, bubbling
basslines (some inspired by old bass tracks recorded by SASCHA’s
friend BERNHARD KLEEBERG) and clever observational storytelling,
Sascha and Rhyder include spirited covers of familiar songs by
MOTORHEAD (a fiery, rock/soul twist on “DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES”
and CHRISTOPHER CROSS (a grooving, atmospheric romp through “RIDE LIKE
THE WIND”). They created a YouTube video for “RIDE LIKE THE WIND”
featuring animation inspired by imagery of the Old West.CHECK OUT THE ViDEO FOR 'RiDE LiKE THE WiND' RELATED LiNKS: WWW.DASHBOARDMADONNA.COM ABOUT THE HOST: CONTACT
