MARCH 19,
2018 ![]() t's been
over a week since
we've had a new edition of ROCK SHOW but now we're back with new music
and some new interviews. This edition comes just days before the first
annual LA MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS which will be held on Friday, March 24,
2018 at UNFRIENDLY STUDIOS in Vernon, CA. ROCKWIRED
MAGAZINE has
published the official guide for the LA MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS and the
122-page publication has been received ecstatically by readers both
domestic and abroad. We put a lot of work in the writing and the layout
of the guide and with all ofthe work behind us, we are using this show
as an opportunity to share with the listeners some of our favorites
videos from this year's impressive list of nominees. In addition, this
edition of ROCK SHOW will also feature music and exclusive
interviews
with singer-songwriter MICK McMAINS regarding his new album AMERICAN
SOUL and ANIMAL TEEF and ENDOR of LONSEOME GEORGE regarding
their debut release BURT BACHAPACK. Sandwiched in within all of this is the
usual banter between hosts BRIAN LUSH and RITA LOUISE.![]() The video opens with seemingly angelic girls dressed in white doing a strange interpretive dance to a gentle acoustic track. In seconds the band TWO BROTHERS tear into their glorious slow burner and when a girl dressed in black appears, the angels in white reveal themselves to the be something more ominous than your average mean girl. The sense of menace in this video should've given this one a nomination for BEST HORROR THEMED VIDEO, but the folks running this competition know what they're doing. THE

FOLLOWiNG THE ADVERTiSEMENT BELOW ![]() RAY LEViER - BOMBS iNSIDE MY HEAD RAY LEVIER is a highly sought after session drummer with an intimidating musical palette. Especially in the realm of jazz. At the age of twelve he suffered 3rd degree burns on his upper body and lost fingers from the injuries he sustained. How one becomes a drummer after that is beyond me but it's an inspiring story . On his latest solo album LOST AND FOUND, LEVIER embraces a rock sound sound informed by BOWIE and TRENT REZNOR but we hear shades of MOBY in BOMBS INSIDE MY HEAD. This video was our first introduction to LEVIER and we have only scratched the surface of the man's considerable talent. MiCK McMAiNS - DEViL DON'T CARE SUN GODS - BEAUTY OF BELiEF This it the second time that SUN GODS appears in this list of nominees and this time it's for a live-action video. Front man BRENT BUCKLER doesn't exactly look like the life of the party in some of the video's frames and the music itself doesn't necessarily make you wanna hit the dancefloor, but the party scenes are gloriously filmed by director BILLIE VOSS and the anthemic march of the music truly uplifts. Front man JASON NAPIER comes alive in this video performance through the static of an analog television and transports to a cluttered bedroom, a beach and a strip club. Every video submitted for this category is a winner in our opinion so picking one is going to be difficult. Who knew EDM had all of this visual splendor. LONESOME GEORGE - JOHN DUNBAR LONESOME
GEORGE is a duo specializing in decolonization rap by and for
indigenous people. Oglala Lakota vocalist ANIMAL TEEF fronts the band
over production by Tenochca
Mexica
musician ENDOR. Deceptively catchy while maintaining an experimental
edge, LONESOME GEORGE is not afraid to ruin dinner.

FOLLOWiNG THE ADVERTiSEMENT BELOW ![]() EMMA ROWE - EARTHFLiGHT The fantastic thing about this LA MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS is that it turns us on to new artists like EMMA ROWE. For the past few categories, we've seen music videos with a tremendous amount of epic scope where music was simply in the background. With ROWE, the music comes first as does her confident, knowing gaze into the camera. Nothing like an artist who knows what the hell they are doing. FORTNiTE - GASOLiNE This haunting single gets an equally haunting video. Drag racing in South Africa looks like it could be the theme for a feature film but at the moment we will simply enjoy this mesmerizing video and the mesmerizing song that accompanies it. The plucky, feel good original has proven to have a tremendous shelf life in pop culture and B's rhymes and beats only ad to the song's exuberance. Oh yeah, and it's up for BEST FEEL GOOD VIDEO too! MiLiTiA VOX - THiS iS SHE Having been acquainted with MILITIA VOX for many years, we are delighted to see her make an appearance on this amazing list of nominees. THIS IS SHE is only a taste of what this goth rocker has to offer and it's dark pacing is worthy of comparison to director WILLIAM FRIEDKIN's work on the EXORCIST. No wonder this video is also up for BEST HORROR THEMED MUSIC VIDEO in this competiton. Even with minimal lighting, MILITIA VOX has enormous presence.
