EURYTHMICS
SAVAGE
(1987)
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
It was the late-eighties and all of the real interesting things in music had already passed and it was all replaced with hair metal.

Then the year 1987 came along and some good albums came out. My favorites were, THE JOSHUA TREE by U2, IN MY TRIBE by 10,000 MANIACS and SAVAGE by EURYTHMICS. Sure, the latter isn't as big as the first two but it was still an important album and huge artistic statement for the bands vocalist ANNIE LENNOX.

The album is a tale of love lost, love lost and oh yeah, heartbreak. That was  what made the EURYTHMIC song in my opinion. It was best to leave fluffier subject matter up to MADONNA. Stylistically, this album was return to the synth sound that won them the world in 1983 with SWEET DREAMS, but this time around the dream is more like a stuggle for the singers sanity as she looks for love in all the wrong places and we as the audience enjoy ever flashy sound bite that DAVID A STEWART can throw in.

ROCKWIRED is giving it up for this 1980's odd couple.
