THE METROPOLIS SOUNDTRACK (1984)

Now here's an overlooked 80's classic. This is from an age where a films soundtrack was just as big as important as the film itself. GIORGIO MORODER was a producer for the likes of DONNA SUMMER, BERLIN and the BLONDIE song CALL ME. He was the musical mastermind behin such films as SCARFACE and FLASHDANCE. In 1984 he brought back the 1927 film METROPOLIS, colorized it and gave it awesome 80's score to the dismay of a purists and to the delight of insomniacs who just wanted something to watch  at the wee hours of the night. The soundtrack showcases songs performed by FREDDIE MERCURY, PAT BENATAR, JON ANDERSON (of YES), LOVERBOY and BILLY SQUIER. That's enough hair spray to deplete the ozone layer. From what I understand, the creators estate had this version of the film and its soundtrack destroyed. Well nah! nah! nanah! nah!
