The  beautiful thing about independent radio is that there are no playlists. There is a huge window of opportunity to give time to music that deserved a little bit more of a push than what it got from some record label. Released in 1993, GRAVITY'S RAINBOW was PAT BENATAR'S return to her hard rock roots following her foray into blues. It was released at a time when rockers of her generation were  scratching there heads and wondering what they were going to do since bands like NIRVANA and PEARL JAM had turned the industry on it's ear. Everyone worried except BENATAR. She just did what came naturally. GRAVITY'S RAINBOW is bare boned rock n roll with something to say. She's no longer dissing an old boyfriend but exposing the world for the ugly place it is and the beautifu;l place it can be; just give rockin' tracks like EVERYBODY LAY DOWN, DISCONNECTED, SANCTUARY and TRADIN' DOWN a listen and you'll notice that the QUEEN OF ROCK N ROLL has a lifetime of BEST SHOTS on one great CD. This was the album that should've put her on the airwaves again. The music was relevant and PAT was energized with a thrilling set of songs that rivaled other female artists as well as her older material with it's brashness and honesty. It's a shame that CHRYSALIS records could see the album for what it was...Brilliant!
