ROCKWiRED RADiO PROFiLES
PRESENTS:
THE ELECTRiFYiNG SOUND OF DANSEWOLF AND THEiR DEBUT E.P. 'SMOKE N MiRRORS' JULY 18,
2011 - JULS
D, the tenacious, no-nonsense powerhouse lead singer of the
electro-rock trio
DANSEWOLF, has an ironic take on the band’s adopted hometown of Los
Angeles:
“There’s a certain raw energy about L.A. Nobody seems to work yet
everyone’s
working their ass off. There’s a hunger in this city and living here,
you feed
off of it.” Combined with JULS’ emotional, heart on her sleeve
songwriting,
it’s also the driving force behind the trio’s explosive six song debut
EP SMOKE
N MIRRORS. DANSEWOLF’s
vibe is the perfect blend of seductive and sinister yet poppy and
sweet.
Collectively, they are influenced by a unique swirl of classic pop/rock
artists—BLONDIE, THE STOKES, NO DOUBT—but their individual heroes are
telling
as well. JULS’ coolly dramatic sonic tendencies come from her deep love
of
FREDDIE MERCURY and RADIOHEAD. Andy brings his vintage guitar sounds to
the mix
via THE BEATLES and BOB DYLAN, while the Idaho raised GRANT was
classically
trained and later played in scream/post-hardcore bands. Cutting the EP
with
producer MAX COHEN at Sunset Sound in Fall 2010,
DANSEWOLF crafted a decidedly retro sound by recording everything on 2
inch
analog tapes. All the equipment used to capture the depth and intensity
of
their songs was from 1985 or earlier.
