SEPTEMBER
28,
2010 -Back in the early eighties, the music of ROMEO VOID stood out for
many reasons. The band's tense percussion, moody arrangements and
BENJAMIN BOSSI's insane jazz saxophone riffs provided the perfect bed
for singer DEBORA IYALL's powerful pur to frolic on. In the course of
three albums (IT'S A CONDITION (1981), BENEFACTOR (1982) and INSTINCTS
(1984)) ROMEO VOID set the tone for a thousand Saturday night dance
parties but their cheeky single 'NEVER SAY NEVER' defined
pre-MADONNA, early eighties bad girl insolence with it's unforgettable
chorus "I might like you better if we slept together". Thirty-four
years after
making such a declaration, DEBORA IYALL's pur still packs a punch but
these days she's singing a different tune. Rather than losing
herself in the minimalist backing of her previous band, IYALL truly
gets her emotional ya-yas out on her new solo release 'STAY STRONG'.
Produced and co-written by longtime collaborator PETER DUNNE,
'STAY STRONG' is a sturdy catalog of eleven songs performed with
honesty without sacrificing any of the bravado and humor that we've
come to expect from a woman who felt she had to
sleep with us to know if she'd like us.YOU CAN

ABOUT THE HOST: BRIAN
LUSH holds a BA in Creative Writing from the UNIVERSITY OF
NEW MEXICO. He established ROCKWIRED on New Years of 2004 and hasn’t
looked back
since.
From January 2005 to March 2009, LUSH was the host of the weekly
internet radio
show ROCKWIRED LIVE. He produced the program for the AMERICAN RADIO
NETWORK. As
the editor-in-chief for ROCKWiRED MAGAZiNE, LUSH is hands-on when it
comes to
interviewing and building a lasting rapport with the artists that come
ROCKWiRED’s
way. As a youngster, BRIAN LUSH had no idea what kind of seed was being
planted
by reading magazines such as HIT PARADE, HIGH TIMES, SPIN, REQUEST
(remember
that one?) and even ROLLING STONE (but to a significantly lesser
degree).
“Those were the days before the internet and being a rock journalist
looked
like the coolest job imaginable.” says LUSH “But reading these
magazines had me
imagining that one day I’d be the artist giving all of the clever
answers to
some poor guy with a tape recorder. Well, life has a way of surprising
you.
Now, I’m the poor guy with the tape recorder and asking all of the
questions.”
