JANUARY 2, 2012 - The polls have closed for ROCKWIRED.COM's recent ARTIST OF THE MONTH campaign. Voters from all over the U.S. made their vote count and HILLBILLY VEGAS and their latest release RINGO MANOR are the first ARTIST OF THE MONTH winners for 2012. In a musical age where style and glitz are arguably more celebrated than grit, the Oklahoma-based rockers have chosen to revel in the latter on their 2011 release RINGO MANOR. The band's sound - a combination of midwestern styled rock guitar riffs and the most down home honky-tonk this side of the Mississippi - is bound to win over an audience outside of the confines of Tornado Alley that likes their roots rock down and dirty. "HILLBILLY VEGAS have that celebratory rock soundthat is perfect for ringing in this New Year" says ROCKWIRED founder BRIAN LUSH "You never know what a New Year is going to bring musically until it's all over and HILLBILLY VEGAS and all of our Artist of the Month winners of 2011 have been an asset to our website."

Since the inception of the ARTIST OF THE MONTH competiton HILLBILLY VEGAS is the secondAmerican Indian led band to win the title. Strangely, the band was never featured on the ROCKWIRED show ABORIGINAL SOUNDS. "2011 was definitely the year for American Indian music at ROCKWIRED." says LUSH "You can expect to see this impressive group of musicians represented in ROCKWIRED's upcoming award season."

The ROCKWIRED show ABORIGINAL SOUNDS - A CELEBRATION OF CONTEMPORARY MUSIC will be returning to ROCKWIRED.COM in February of 2012.

HILLBILLY VEGAS won with 47% of the vote followed by Cherokee siren MELANIE STORMM who took home 31% of the vote. Other nominees for ARTIST OF THE MONTH included TERRAPLANE SUN, BRI BAGWELL, NATASHA JAMES, SHELLEY MORNINGSONG and FRANK.

ROCKWIRED.COM will be launching its latest ARTIST OF THE MONTH campaign on JANUARY 2, 2012. Nominees for this latest wave include J.J. CROWNE, RICHIE ONORI, ENGLORIA, SHAUNA BURNS, SAL PIAMONTE, JANET LABELLE and ALASTAIR GREENE. Polling is provided by MICROPOLL and is as simple as making a selection and clicking 'vote'.

While there is no trophy or huge payday for being an ARTIST OF THE MONTH winner, the benefits that come along with the title include expanded coverage and promotion. An ARTIST OF MONTH winner is awarded a month's worth of free site-wide advertising on ROCKWIRED.COM. A 60-second commercial spot promoting the winner and their album will be featured on ROCKWIRED.COM's entire programming for an entire month. The winner is also featured in a special edition of ROCKWIRED RADIO PROFILES. Banners are also given to the winners to further promote their ARTIST OF THE MONTH status on their own website or press packets. Lastly, winners are mentioned on all ROCKWIRED-related announcements/press materials.
