PROFiLES PRESENTS: THE GOTHiC ROCK SOUND
OF CHANTRY AND THEiR NEW CD
'CRYSTAL'
SEPTEMBER
12,
2011 - Conceived
and composed as a requiem for a lost loved one, ALESSANDRO MONOPOLI’s
critically
acclaimed 2009 debut THE EMANCIPATION OF ELIZABETH established the
versatile Italian born, UK based lead composer
and musician as a powerful voice in the indie Goth rock world. Moving
beyond
the cathartic emotional process, he has formed the band CHANTRY, which
includes
vocalist FRANCESCA VERNACCINI and bassist LUCA ESPOSITO MISITCHELLI.
Upping his
production game, MONOPOLI also adds
real drums, richer atmospheres, cool odd metered timings, intricate
sections
and the soaring, emotional vocals of Francesca to create the dynamic
audio-cinematic experience CRYSTAL. One of
the biggest differences between the first collection and CRYSTAL is the
fact that
it’s all vocal driven with a single instrumental piece—while ELIZABETHwas the complete opposite. Yet
MONOPOLI’s overall creative process is pretty much the same for all of
his
musical works. First, he writes the story, then breaks it into parts
(each
captured by a specific song) that he develops one by one so as to
better
understand what part of the story he’s trying to convey with that song.
After
that, he works on gathering a “color” out of each tune—a process he
explains as
part of being a synesthetic composer who naturally associates different
senses
to a stimulus. “When that is done,” he says, “and usually it happens on
its own
while I write the part, I compose a song that reminds me of that color.”

LUSH holds a BA in Creative Writing from the UNIVERSITY OF
NEW MEXICO. He established ROCKWIRED on New Years of 2004 and hasn't
looked back
since. He is currently the host of all of ROCKWIRED.COM's programming
which includes such shows as ROCKWIRED RADIO PROFILES and ROCKWIRED
FREE FORM RADIO. As
program producer for ROCKWiRED.COM, LUSH is hands-on when it
comes to
interviewing and building a lasting rapport with the artists that come
ROCKWiRED's
way. As a youngster, BRIAN LUSH had no idea what kind of seed was being
planted
by reading magazines such as HIT PARADE, HIGH TIMES, SPIN, REQUEST
(remember
that one?) and even ROLLING STONE. "Those were the days before the
internet and being a rock journalist
looked
like the coolest job imaginable." says LUSH "But reading these
magazines had me
imagining that one day I'd be the artist giving all of the clever
answers to
some poor guy with a tape recorder. Well, life has a way of surprising
you.
Now, I'm the poor guy with the tape recorder and asking all of the
questions."
