2011 - To this day, I attribute my 2-day suspension from high school to
the work of LIZ DERRINGER. You see, I was busted in the high school
cafeteria when the Dean of Students noticed my copy of HIGH TIMES
MAGAZINE. Believe me when I say that I've never inhaled the stuff and I
know that HIGH TIMES is known for its embrace of the pot smoking
demographic but I swear, I was only reading it for the articles. In
this case, the article was an interview with DEBORAH HARRY of BLONDIE
conducted by LIZ DERRINGER. It was people like DERRINGER that made rock
journalism seem lucrative and exciting with her profiles on such rock
luminaries as MICK JAGGER, ELVIS COSTELLO, MOTLEY CRUE, STING, PAT
BENATAR and STEVIE NICKS. Time has shown me the humble existence that
music journalism provides but DERRINGER moved on to the exciting world
of publicity and went on to establish her own firm DERRINGER MEDIA. She
has just completed her memoirs tentatively titled JOYRIDE: MY LIFE AS
MRS. ROCKSTAR WASN'T WHAT I WANTED AT ALL which documents her years with
ANDY WARHOL's INTERVIEW MAGAZINE, the most memorable moments of her
rock n roll reportage and her marriage to rocker RICK
