JUNE 21, 2013 ROCKWiRED RADiO PROFiLES PRESENTS AN EXCLUSiVE iNTERViEW WiTH JARED COLE OF SURRENDER THE FALL AND CUTS FROM THEiR ALBUM BURN iN THE SPOTLiGHT In giving
SURRENDER THE FALL's debut album BURN IN THE SPOTLIGHT there
is this sense of urgency throughout the music. There is nothing
overwhelming about it. It's just the right amount of urgency - the kind
that has always made rock n roll the art form that it is. After speaking
with the band's lead singer JARED COLE it's easy to see and hear why
it's "do or die" when it comes to music making for these lads from
Memphis. Making a buck and paying dues in this line of work is hard
enough but when compounded with disappointments and and tragedies the
drive to succeed is all the more paramount. When the band formed in 2005
Guitarist EDDIE TYRE lost everything in HURRICANE KATRINA. Before the
formation of the band guitarist ANTHONY PITTS' football prospects were
dashed by a devastating knee injury. “People got sick, passed
away – we couldn’t be there for them,” says COLE. “It was a
lot of struggle and sacrifice, man. But that’s what ‘Surrender the
Fall’ means: Giving up the option to fail.” Yes, there was a light at
the end of the tunnel with the release of BURN IN THE SPOTLIGHT - a
spirited collection of hard rock tunes that are big on both bravado and
bite.
